Who I am

McCoy’s Metalworks was founded by myself Doug McCoy in November 2018 as a business that would allow me to refine my creativity and passion for designing and making through my day to day work, whilst also providing me with everything necessary to produce my own ideas of sculptures and products. Through completing the blacksmithing course at Plumpton college with a triple distinction star, then working in multiple different environments for several different award-winning blacksmiths and the world class designers at Collier Webb, I learnt the skills and focus needed to begin my career as a sole trader. Having set up a workshop with a wide variety of metal fabrication equipment and a coal forge with the traditional tooling, I am now in the early years of the business I had imagined. I aim to carry on with big ambitions and keep challenging myself with the work I produce so I can continually improve my abilities and create high quality pieces.
